Welcome to AFT Michigan
We have a state budget that is bad enough, and on top of that Public Education is not fully funded. Most school districts are looking at cuts of around $292 per student. Districts receiving 20(j) funds are facing even deeper cuts. Higher Education is looking at cuts of 4% plus cuts to student financial aid. |
Your Health Benefits are in JeopardyHouse Speaker Andy Dillon has introduced H.B. 5345 that would put all active and retired public employees - including all K-12, higher education and municipal employees - into a state designed health insurance plan. The proposal takes away our collective bargaining rights, will probably lower our benefits in order to meet the savings being claimed, and creates a new Lansing bureaucracy. Please contact your legislators today asking them to oppose H.B.5345.Contact your legislator >> Download Health Care Flyers: |
Come Celebrate AFT Michigan's 75th Anniversary
Next year AFT Michigan will be celebrating our 75th Anniversary. We have created a web page to mark the occasion and it is an interactive page because your history is the history of the union. The page is currently being built, but check out the Share Your History and Members Voices sections to see and answer the current question both about our history and give us your opinion on the future.AFT Michigan : Celebrating 75 Years >>
