Detroit - Today, AFT Michigan is happy to announce it has endorsed Richard Bernstein for the Democratic Party nomination for Michigan Attorney General.

" While most people think of the Attorney General as the top criminal prosecutor in the state, in reality it is the top law enforcement officer in the state charged with enforcing ALL the laws " public corruption, civil rights, health and safety, consumer protection, and labor law to name a few," stated David Hecker, AFT Michigan President. "Richard Bernstein has a long history with AFT Michigan. He was elected to the Wayne State University Board of Governors in 2002, and is now Chairman of that Board. Our union represents full-time and part-time faculty as well as graduate employees at WSU, and Richard has always been open to our concerns about what is happening at the university and has fought for our issues. We believe he will be the same kind of fighter for the people of Michigan as Attorney General."

In addition to his work as a WSU Governor, Richard is an attorney with a successful history of taking on powerful corporations and insurance companies for people who need a voice - families, seniors, children, veterans, students and people with disabilities.

When not practicing law or serving Wayne State, Richard is an instructor at the University of Michigan and a proud member of our local that represents Lecturers at UofM.
