The mission of AFT Michigan is to advance the interests of our members and the institutions in which they work.

Vision Statement

Our vision is of a strong and effective union representing and advancing the rights and benefits of our members, as well as the institutions where they work. Ours is a large union composed of strong local unions resulting from a growing number of well trained local leaders and activists empowered to bargain and enforce strong contracts and be active politically and legislatively. Ours is a union respected for our legislative and political work, as well as our efforts advancing education issues and addressing the professional needs of all of our members. Ours is a union looked up to in the community at-large and considered a preeminent resource on education issues.
