COLLECTIVE BARGAINING & CONTRACT ENFORCEMENT
The annual Collective Bargaining Conference is scheduled for the Fall so that training is offered at the beginning of the academic year as locals begin to prepare for bargaining. The agenda includes Contract Enforcement.

Fall 2010 Summit

Location: Soaring Eagle Conference Center, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan
Presidents Council: Presidents will meet as a group sharing information and ideas.
Summits also include training, in either the Fall or Spring Summits, for the following positions, and an opportunity for constituent committees to meet and plan for the year.
Political Action Coordinator: Political Action coordinators will meet as a group to prepare for upcoming elections and share ideas on how to enhance political effectiveness, strengthen Member-to-Member communications systems, and raise PAC dollars.
Health Care Advocate: One or more members designated by the local union will learn about health care issues. Track A is for issues related to employer-provided health insurance; Track B is for learning about how to shop for/obtain insurance not provided by an employer.
Financial Analyst: Member(s) designated by the local will learn to access and analyze the employer's finances. Sessions will be made available to both K-12 and Higher Education locals.
Treasurer: Treasurers will learn nuts and bolts of Treasurer responsibilities.
Retirement Representative: Member(s) designated by local union will learn about MPSERS (fall session), and about financial
planning for persons without access to MPSERS (spring session).
Community Outreach Initiative: Member(s) designated by the local union will develop skills to assist in building coalitions in the community. The objective is to build a "friendly" base that will be informed and willing to support the local union when needed.
Communications Coordinator: Member(s) designated by the local union who will oversee and coordinate union communica- tions to members, the community, and the media. Special emphasis will be given to Member-to-Member communication, but all aspects of communication will be covered - newsletters, flyers, e-mail, web site, social networking, texting, etc.*with the goal of informing and activating the membership and the community.
Educational Issues Coordinator: Member(s) designated by the local union who will be the point person(s) gathering infor- mation about educational reform ideas, passing that information along to other members in the local, and assisting the union as it grapples with what policies to adopt and how to implement them.
Constituency Committees: Following the above programs, participants will meet with their respective Constituent Committees to discuss issues to work on during the academic year.
