Effective Classroom Management: Organizing the Classroom for Teaching and Learning
Addresses three interrelated aspects of an effective classroom - classroom rules, classroom procedures, and instructional practices.
The School-Home Connection: Parental Involvement
Benefits and challenges of parental involvement, homework, effective school practices, home-school-community partnerships, and specific ways in which parents and school staff can work together to improve students classroom performance.
Strategies For Resolving Conflict
Local leaders will learn strategies that will help them gain a perspective on how to deal with conflicts, disagreements, anger and emotions at work. Will include identifying types of conflict, learning your personal style for resolving conflict; developing appropriate strategies and techniques for constructive conflict resolution; and practicing effective ways to resolve conflict in various situations.
Leadership Development: Training for Current and Future Officers
Designed to enhance and provide leaders with the tools needed to become a more effective
leader. The training will highlight strengthening the union by involving and activating the member-
ship. Participants will learn about the state federation resources, services, and programs important
to running a local union and representing the membership. This will include the nuts and bolts of
running a union.
Building Representatives/Stewards
Developing the skills needed to be an effective, pro-active building representative/steward.
Bargaining
Bargaining issues and strategies for the table and for enhancing effectiveness through building
power.
